Club Night // PARADISE

During one year 2005/2006 Paradise managed to host Vitalic, Olof Dreijer (The Knife), Mylo, Rex the Dog, Black Strobe, Headman, Ewan Pearson to a very small audience. These previously unknown quality underground producers soon after crashed over to the big arenas and became remixers for Billboard artists. More importantly, they all survived the electro-hype and proved to be true talent. Paradise was acknowledged for its political boldness and quality music.

During a period of my life I was very public. I was a media whore. At this period I got to know a lot of young people on their way up. Also media whores. I thought that I could do something with “us”. I conceptualized this and presented a book that would speak about love and sex of the new generation (and gender). Many publishers thought this was A GREAT! idea. I picked the most credible one and had my friend make the product design. You rip the ribbon (say SEX WARS) and it was both pink and blue editions. We also made a point of not writing out the names but only having them in the back of the book as a list of contributors (so you would wonder if it was a guy or a gal who wrote the thing). The anthology was reviewed  with very good feedback.

ART SHIT // THE FAN SOFA

The Fan Sofa – Elin Alvemark 2011

I thought this red leather sofa would look cool in the ad agency. But it just looked like thrift shop goods when it is really disgusting. Solution? Tag the damn thing with something valued very high. Lady Gaga. Contemporary like hell! The company fired me and told me to get rid of my things. The boys from the pick up place refused to take it. “She has painted on it. Ok.” No I had to pay 200 kronor in order for them to take the piece away. “We will never be able to sell this” he said tonelessly retardedly, cute. Later I saw a pic of the piece featured on Facebook. A gallerist had seen the sofa and posted it on her intagram/tmblr or whatever. Headline read “the fan-sofa”. I think that is a perfect and low key name for this artwork. Wherever it may be at this point.
